There has been great news that the Syrdarya 2 CCGT PPP Project had won the prestigious PFI Central Asian Deal of the Year Award. Project finance industry’s most prestigious annual awards are awarded by Project Finance International (PFI), the leading source of global project finance intelligence. The project implemented by a consortium of EDF International (France), Nebras Power (Qatar), Sojitz Corporation (Japan), and Kyuden International Corporation (Japan) envisages the design, development, engineering, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance, and transfer of a 1.58GW CCGT power plant in the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan. The total project cost exceeds USD 1 bln with a debt-to-equity ratio of roughly 80/20. Around USD 805 mln of financing has been attracted from IFC, JBIC, Nippon Export and Investment Insurance, Mizuho Bank, Ltd., Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Société Générale.
Lawyers of Kosta Legal, led by partner Nail Hassanov and counsel Maxim Dogonkin, have been assisting the sponsors starting from the tender stage of the project, providing them with comprehensive advice on corporate, foreign investment, foreign trade, public procurement, regulatory, land and construction matters. We once again congratulate our team and all the involved parties, including our experienced and professional colleagues from Norton Rose Fulbright, on contributing to this important, award-winning project.
