Kosta Legal attends presentation of World Bank’s latest Doing Business report

On November 1, 2017 partners of Kosta Legal attended the World Bank Group’s presentation of the latest Doing Business 2018 Report. The results of Uzbekistan overall performance on the ease of doing business was presented by World Bank Director for Central Asia Ms. Lilia Burunciuc, World Bank Trade and Competitiveness Global Practice Director Ms. Cecile Fruman and World Bank Lead Economist Ms. Stefka Slavova. The meeting was also attended by country’s Minister of Economy Ms. Galina Saidova and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Mr. Adkham Ikramov.

It is to note that this year’s report marked notable progress in Uzbekistan’s efforts to improve its business environment with the country’s general rank raising from 87 in 2016 to 74 in 2017. It is stated that Uzbekistan, who carried out 5 significant reforms, including simplification of the tax system and introduction of some electronic solutions in various spheres, “is among this year’s top 10 global improvers”.
