Kosta Legal assists KT Corporation with merger deal
Monday, 19 October 2020

Lawyers of Kosta Legal led by Mr. Vazgen Grigoryan have advised KT Corporation (formerly Korea Telecom), South Korea's largest telecommunications company, in a transaction involving the merger of some of Uzbekistan’s leading Internet providers – EVO and East Telecom. Our role was to provide comprehensive legal advice on corporate matters resulting from the merger, assist in resolving complex regulatory issues (related to the transfer of licenses and permits to a merged entity), and help in getting merger clearance from the Antimonopoly Committee. It is envisaged that the merged company will become a very strong player in the telecommunications market of Uzbekistan and will engage in the provision of new digital services.

Being one of Uzbekistan’s most heavily regulated sectors, telecommunications is a complicated market for all its participants. Our corporate and competition lawyers have much experience in advising companies in the industry. Our services cover a wide array of relevant regulatory matters, starting from licensing and ending up with the assistance with systems of mobile payments. We are proud to have Beeline Uzbekistan, Nokia Siemens, and Toyota Tsusho Corporation among our other clients.
