We would like to sincerely congratulate our colleague counsel Maxim Dogonkin on the successful completion of his PhD in Law at the University of East Anglia (Norwich, UK). His PhD thesis studies problematic aspects of the activity of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in competitive markets of the former Soviet Union (Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan) and proposes legal measures to tackle relevant issues to improve the competitive environment in the region, based on applicable EU experience. While working on his thesis, Maxim was an active member of the Centre for Competition Policy based at the University, participated in many international conferences and roundtables related to the subject, and was engaged in several law reform projects implemented in the CIS region.
Maxim’s expertise will significantly strengthen the competition practice of the firm and will be of a great value for clients entering Uzbek markets, expanding their operations within them, or considering participation in privatization announced by the government of Uzbekistan.
