Kosta Legal has successfully completed a labour legislation compliance audit for an Uzbekistan-based branch office of a foreign non-governmental organisation, which is subject to the head office’s numerous employment policies and the compliance guidelines of the United States Agency for International Development (“USAID”).
Our services included identification of client’s HR practices that were not compliant with requirements of the Uzbek labour legislation, provision of recommendations for correcting these inconsistences and development of internal HR policies, including compliance and anti-bribery policies that meet the needs of the client and do not contradict Uzbek law. As the organisation’s activities in Uzbekistan are partially financed by USAID, USAID requirements had to be adjusted and incorporated into the branch office’s internal policies.
The organisation in question has established several educational and healthcare facilities in Uzbekistan to support local social growth, in line with the organisation's objectives. More than 50 people are currently employed in the Uzbek branch.
USAID provides development assistance to help partner countries. It helps Uzbekistan to diversify its economy and to increase regional trade, to address serious health threats and to encourage government transparency.
