Restructuring supply chain operations for a European equipment manufacturer

Saturday, 11 May 2019

Kosta Legal has advised a major Switzerland-based packaging equipment producer wishing to enhance its presence in Uzbekistan on structuring its local business.

Our lawyers were asked to assist in a full restructuring of company’s business operations in Uzbekistan and mechanisms of its interaction with Uzbek customers, including contractual settlements and customs clearance for supplied equipment. Our task also included the analysis of the tax efficiency of existing trading schemes. Once the client accepted our proposals for changing his ways of operation, we assisted him in practical implementation of new mechanisms by helping to incorporate some new legal entities, drafting necessary documents, etc. One particular complexity of the matter was in developing a comprehensive business structure that would take into account corporate, contractual, tax, forex and customs specificities of Uzbek law.

Our Swiss client is one of world’s leading providers of packaging solutions. Employing approximately 5,600 employees worldwide, the company has established over 80 branch offices and 10 production sites around the globe.
